The Do's and Don'ts of Coffee
It is impossible to be absolutely certain enough to say that the perfect cup of coffee can be made by any particular method of brewing, although it is a simple matter of taste preference by each individual. As everyone knows, the method used to brew coffee will also determine whether or not it is a good or bad cup of coffee. It all depends on the coffee itself, the way in which it was stored, how old it is, the grind and of course the method in which it is brewed.
The same coffee beans brewed in different methods will produce a different flavor according to the method used. Not only does coffee taste different from person to person but you may find that your favorite breakfast coffee is not your favorite after dinner coffee.
To define these statements, we mean to say that not every cup of coffee will be your perfect cup at any given time of the day. It depends on your mood, the quality of the coffee, the method it is brewed and so on. Sure it sounds like a lot of hassles to find the perfect cup, but that is not so. Firstly we have the perfect coffee here at this site for you and we provide the following tips on what to do and what not to do when brewing your coffee to help you get the perfect cup everytime!
Do's
- Do keep your coffee brewing equipment clean after each use. Wash thoroughly as coffee grounds and oils soon become rancid and will ruin any subsequent cups you make.
- Do use enough coffee (2 tsp per cup is a good guideline).
- Do warm the pot before brewing when using the Jug Method. (this is where you pour hot water over coarse grinds without boiling and in some cases turkish coffee).
- Do always use fresh clean water.
- Do use the correct grind which is the most suitable for your choice of brewing method.
- Do drink the hot coffee as soon as it is ready.
Don'ts
- Don't re-use coffee grounds - NEVER!
- Don't make coffee with boiling water as the perfect temperature is at 2 degrees below boiling point. Boiling water also depletes the oxygen from the water.

- Don't immediately after pouring coffee from a plunger add cold water to the plunger glass.
